The Narrative Continues
Man of Letters: S breaks a heart/ And tears a life apart/ M comes in all sorts of weather to put things back together/ S is stultifying and dark/ M is a breath of fresh air and as sunny as a walk in the park/ Will B and D tie you down or set you free?/ Is either right for you or me? (Published January 1, 2009) Future Perfect: You are my present/ She was my past/ I want to unwrap you/ And make our love last (Appeared January 2, 2009) Memorable Mademoiselle: Splendid little acts of infamy by a trend setter/ And you know you can't forget her/ Every man yearns to be alone/ With a Mata Hari, Madonna, or Sharon Stone/ Each one of them a diva/ To la difference, we say "viva" (Written January 3, 2009) Occupy Your Mind: How sad is it that so many people feel the need to glom onto the tragedy of a celebrity to give themselves meaning in their lives? Most of those in the public eye would not put a fan out if that fan were on fire. Don't these poor folks have enough tragedy in their own lives without having to appropriate the misery of someone famous to add significance to their day to day doldrums. Drop the G: Why'd you have to go and drop the "g"/ Why'd you have to go and drop the "g"/ You know how much that little letter meant to me/ So why'd you have to go and drop the "g"/ How could you be so cruel to me?/ Why'd you have to go and drop the "g"? (Last two pieces both originally appeared on January 7, 2009) Wigged Out, Caught In: I want to spend my time in your asylum/ I want to sleep in your bedlam bed/ I need to be the mad man in your cloister/ Even if the next day I am dead. (Appeared January 12, 2009) Up the West End: I'd like to arm myself with a lot of facts/ Just to see the way the world reacts/ I'd like to ask you on another date/ Just to hear you ululate/ I'd like to shout out loud but not in hate/ Just to tell you I know you're great/ I'd like to take you places that you never go/ Just as long as you take it slow/ You never know how much your love will grow/ If you just stay part of the show. Measure Twice: Two Godly women got me in an ungodly mess/ I don't know which one to caress/ They both deserve such tenderness/ There is not one I curse and one I wish to bless/ One is not more and the other not less/ My angels will have to direct me I guess/ This is way too important to jest/ I need the Higher Hand to guide my quest. (Last two verses originally published January 11, 2009).
